LOWER SCHOOL

*CATCH-UP CLASS*
Required for Mid-Season Enrollees Ages 7+
This 8-week Saturday morning session (Jan 7 - Feb 25) is designed to help students joining mid-season to learn the information taught in their level during the fall semester. Enroll in the Parent Portal along with regular leveled class(es). First day is used to confirm that level placement is correct for that dancer; students are welcome to wear a black leotard or other color before purchasing Dress Code specific attire.
Lower School levels are determined by age at start of season. Students stay in the same level for the full season, even if they "age up" during that year.
Typically, students spend one year in Sweet Peas, and two years in Buttercups and Daisies. All age ranges are approximate, and parents are welcome to inform us if they believe their dancer would do better in a younger group. Moving a dancer to a higher level than their age group is only done at the recommendation of the instructor and rarely without at least one completed season of classes at Doxa.
Students begin receiving written end-of-season evaluations when they have turned 9, or will before the following season. Their instructors will either recommend at that time that they stay in Daisies another year or move to Lilies (Intermediate School). See Level Placements under Policies for more information.

SWEET PEAS
Age 4
Ballet/Creative movement class. Consists of stretching exercises, basic ballet-based movements, repetition, and games designed to enhance muscle memory and gross motor skills. Participates in the recital in April.

This ballet class involves center instruction with detailed basic step explanation and simple step combinations, with an emphasis on learning introductory ballet vocabulary and the concept of linking steps together to tell a story.
